But none of them ever tickled the same bone D2 did and does to me. I don't say that you can't like any of them better, you can. There are other good ARPG's but none are like D2. Regarding difficulty, I do wish you could change the players count to /players 50 or something ridiculous to make it a must to have a party or just have insane gear to even play. A person could “beat” Diablo 1000 before completing an enigma. So for me, having enigma and teleport was earned, if I can build enigma, all I’m doing at that point is looking for top gear, and this items helps me achieve that. you have to do all the leg work yourself. It’s not like online where people drop free items, trade, etc. In regards to “bonkers broken”, imagine playing single player only and having to find and build all of these items yourself. Such is not the case in D2, you get to the end of your quest, and you can’t go any further without doing a bit of re runs to gain experience and the necessary items to go further. I think the main difference between Diablo 2 and other games is the non linear item progression - so in other games, as you progress, you naturally find the next best equipment.
